Chinese publishing company NetEase recently decided to reduce its investment in Japan after a number of unsuccessful experiments in establishing Japanese development studios to try to provide distinctive games there.

The company-owned development team Ouka Studios, which worked on the game Visions of Mana in collaboration with Square Enix, is one of the victims, as the development team has been officially closed and its page on the network has now been deleted. The game’s director, Ryosuke Yoshida, announced a few weeks ago that he would join Square Enix as a game director, while the team’s leader, Tetsuya Akatsuka, has not specified his next destination.
